Chelsea will be playing A-League club and one-time Asian Champions League winners Western Sydney Wanderers on Tuesday night local time before facing fellow Premier League giants Tottenham on Saturday.
Both games will take place in front of massive crowds at the 82,000-capacity Accor Stadium, home of the Sydney 2000 Summer Olympics, before the Blues continue their whirlwind pre-season tour of Asia with friendlies in Hong Kong, Indonesia and Malaysia.
A new era officially begins this week with new manager Xabi Alonso taking control of the team at the start of this month at the beginning of a four-year contract as the club looks to improve drastically on last season's tenth-place Premier League finish.
As is the norm with many top-flight football clubs, Chelsea's World Cup participants are all on extended leave, meaning some of the team's biggest names have not made the trip down under to excite tens of thousands of Blues fans in Sydney this week.
That includes players who spent little or no time on the pitch during the World Cup such as Mike Penders, Malo Gusto and Trevoh Chalobah.
Geovany Quenda and Emmanuel Emegha both continue to recover from injury ahead of the team's opening Premier League game away to Fulham on August 24.
Highly anticipated new signing Morgan Rogers will also not be a part of the trip and is expected to make his debut for his new club in their final pre-season hitout when they welcome Real Sociedad to Stamford Bridge on August 15.
