Who has scored the most goals in Soweto Derbies among the current players for Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs ahead of Saturday’s 186th instalment of the biggest fixture in South African sport?

The answer is pretty clear, with Orlando Pirates’ Evidence Makgopa leading the way with four goals. In fact, no other player in the current squads has more than one goal against their Soweto rivals.

Makgopa may not score all that many goals generally, but he does love a goal against Chiefs.

He has scored four goals in six appearances for Pirates against the old enemy, and only three of those were starts.

He has played approximately 280 minutes for Pirates against Chiefs, which means he has scored a goal every 70 minutes, an excellent return.

Across the current squads on both sides of the divide, there are only six other players who have scored in a Soweto Derby.

Oswin Appollis, Tshepang Moremi and Kamogelo Sebelebele have netted for Pirates, while Reeve Frosler and Pule Mmodi have scored for Chiefs. Siphesihle Ndlovu, now at Chiefs, also scored against them during his time with Pirates.
