Clara Tauson will make a comeback to the WTA Tour at the Madrid Open in two weeks after she was forced to withdraw with a back injury at the Indian Wells tournament earlier in the year.

Clara Tauson's back injury is not as bad as one might have feared.

The Dane is unlikely to reach full fitness in time for the WTA tournament in Stuttgart next week, but should be able to be ready for the Madrid Open in two weeks, where Tauson is likely to make the draw, says her father, Soren Tauson, to dr.dk.

"Clara has decided that she will start up in Madrid. Now she has put in a training block ahead of the gravel season, and she is running a really good program", says father Tauson.

The clay season culminates with the French Open Grand Slam tournament at the end of May. Tauson reached the third round in Paris last year.

Tauson has had a troubled start to the season, which has seen her drop from No. 12 to No. 18 in the WTA rankings.
