Botic van de Zandschulp progressed to the semifinals of the Tiriac Open in Bucharest, Romania, after a 6-3, 6-3 win over Bosnian Damir Dzumhur.

Botic van de Zandschulp, the 62nd-ranked player in the world, reached the quarterfinals after not dropping a set in the wins over Francesco Maestrelli and Alexander Shevchenko and was set to face 74th-ranked Damir Dzumhur, who'd dealt with Filip Cristian Jianu and Nuno Borges.

The in-form Van de Zandschulp was shocked early after Dzumhur won the break in the first game. The Dutchman responded strongly, however, breaking the Bosnian in his next two service games and defending three break points in his second service game to keep the lead. The strongly returning Van de Zandschulp won 57% of his return points and made good on his second set point, fittingly ending the set on a love game.
