Son Heung-Min faces an intriguing decision at the end of this season in the United States.

Since joining Los Angeles FC, he has hit the ground running - helping his new club secure a spot in the MLS playoffs and instantly becoming one of the league’s standout names.

LAFC are among the favourites to lift the MLS Cup, with the final set for December. It is a stage where Son could yet crown a memorable debut campaign.

Once that is over, though, he will be left with a two to three-month gap before the next season begins. It is a stretch of time that could open the door to new possibilities.

Some players welcome the rest, while others prefer to keep sharp through short-term loans back in Europe. With the 2026 World Cup edging closer, Son’s decision could carry extra weight.

David Beckham, Thierry Henry and Frank Lampard all took that route during their MLS careers, using brief European returns to stay fit and competitive.

The same path could tempt Son. AC Milan are already being linked with interest, while a short reunion with Tottenham or maybe even the romantic prospect of linking up again with Harry Kane at Bayern Munich will be mooted as options.

For now, it is largely speculation but those close to the situation admit the possibility of a winter loan move has been thought about.

Before any of that, Son’s attention will remain fixed on LAFC’s MLS Cup chase.

His side kick off their playoff run on October 29 against Austin FC - and the chance to end the year as a champion might just shape what comes next.
