All Dutch teams that feature in European competitions were exempt from playing in the first round of the Dutch cup, meaning PSV, Ajax, Feyenoord, Go Ahead Eagles, FC Utrecht, and AZ will all enter the KNVB Beker in the second round.
The first round of the KNVB Beker was lit up by upsets: professional clubs MVV Maastricht, Excelsior, FC Eindhoven, Vitesse, FC Emmen, and De Graafschap were all eliminated by amateur teams.
In the second round of the KNVB Beker, PSV will host amateurs GVVV, while Ajax will visit Excelsior Maassluis, who eliminated Eredivisie outfit Excelsior in the first round.
Feyenoord will host fellow Eredivisie club sc Heerenveen, manager Robin van Persie's previous employers. Cup holders Go Ahead Eagles will visit Eerste Divisie outfit Roda JC.
The second-round ties will be played on December 16-18, with the exception of AZ, who will play their cup tie on December 3rd or 4th due to the UEFA Conference League schedule.
