The Dutch football association (KNVB) will present a special blue trophy to the best-performing amateur team in the KNVB Beker, the Dutch cup.

The trophy will be a special blue version of the famous 'Pinecone', as the trophy is also called. The KNVB Beker will be the first cup competition in the world with a designated trophy for amateur teams.

"From Quick Boys and Spakenburg to VVSB and Hercules: every year, surprises colour the cup tournament," the KNVB said in a statement.

"Starting in the 2025/26 season, the Eurojackpot KNVB Beker will introduce the Amateur Winner, an official title with its own blue 'Pinecone' for the best amateur club in the tournament."

After the first round, eleven amateur teams remain among the 32 still in the tournament. Amateur outfits have eliminated Eerste Divisie teams in 13 of the 25 meetings in the KNVB Beker since the 2023/24 season. Last year, amateur sides Quick Boys and VV Noordwijk made the quarter-finals of the KNVB Beker.

"Every year, amateur clubs provide the most wonderful surprises in the KNVB Cup. It's great that we can offer these trendsetters a well-deserved platform with the Amateur Winner title and trophy," director of amateur football Jan Dirk van der Zee said in the statement.

Van der Zee will present the trophy to the best-performing amateur team during halftime of the KNVB Beker final on April 19th, 2026.
