Head coach Otto Addo has announced a 24-man Black Stars squad for Ghana’s decisive 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against the Central African Republic and Comoros, with a blend of youthful promise, returning stars and fresh local talent.

Among the notable inclusions is 21-year-old defender Kojo Peprah Oppong, who has enjoyed his start to life in the French Ligue 1 with OGC Nice.

His rise has not gone unnoticed by Otto Addo, who has rewarded him with a place in the senior national squad for the first time.

Another returnee is Leicester City winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku. The wide man had been sidelined since last November due to an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury, but his recovery and strong performances in England’s Championship have paved the way for a return to international duty.

Also back in the squad is Rennes defender Alidu Seidu, who has overcome an ACL injury that kept him out of contention for nine months. His return is a major boost for Ghana’s defensive options as the team gears up for two challenging fixtures.

Meanwhile, Medeama SC’s Prince Owusu has been handed his debut call-up after catching the eye with a string of impressive performances in the Ghana Premier League.

The Black Stars face the Central African Republic in their penultimate qualifier at the Stade d’Honneur de Meknes on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at 16:00 GMT.

Four days later, they will return home to host Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, October 12, 2025, with kick-off set for 19:00 GMT

These matches could prove decisive, as Ghana chase a fifth World Cup appearance.

Currently, the Black Stars sit top of Group I with 19 points and just two games left to play. Four points from both fixtures would confirm their place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be staged in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
