The Brazilian, on loan from Fluminense, who are also taking part in the Club World Cup, will face off against RB Salzburg, Real Madrid and Al Hilal with the top two going through to the last 16 in Group H.
For John Kennedy, the aim is to get out of the group, whilst also making more people know about the Mexican side.
He explained: “The name Pachuca will rise more and more. I think that's the importance of this competition. I hope that we can qualify in the first phase, get to the second phase and be able to compete, one-on-one, against the great European teams, South American teams, Asian teams, in short, all the teams that come our way.
"I think we will be able to compete and have a good tournament. It's something that every professional player wants: to play against great teams."

Of the three games in the group stage, one stands up above all the rest for Kennedy - the Galacticos of Real Madrid.
Speaking about the Spanish club, he said: "Playing against Real Madrid is going to be a huge experience, an experience that will... I can't even find the words to express my feelings. I think it's going to be something beautiful, something that I can be sure I'll enjoy every minute on the pitch."
"(It is) An experience like this motivates the whole team, not just me. The main thing is not to stop competing, to stop being a team. To win against a great team, you have to be a good team, a good team. And I think you have to be light, play light."
It will be a tough task to take points from Real, but Kennedy believes the atmosphere within the camp can bring them success in the USA.
The 23-year-old added: "Obviously, we respect any team, especially the best in the world. But... On the pitch, we have to be light, we have to perform, we have to play football.
"I think the most important thing is to be a team that is light, playing football to try to win against the best team in the world. They make jokes all the time, they make jokes. I think it's a very good atmosphere.
"Pachuca's dressing room is a magnificent environment, everyone is very close, and they are very close friends. I think we have everything to have a very good year, a very victorious year of 2025.”
