Tolu scored Ajax's opener in the third minute of the crucial game against FC Twente, towering over Aske Adelgaard to head Ajax in front.
With a win over FC Twente, Ajax will be the league leaders for the first time since May 2025.
It was Tolu's sixth goal in the last five games and followed a two-goal performance in Ajax's 6-1 UEFA Conference League win over FC Midtjylland. Sunday's goal also marked the third game in a row in which Tolu opened the scoring with an early header - the Nigerian striker also did it in the ninth minute against Midtjylland and in the ninth minute of the game against AZ.
Tolu, 25, joined Ajax on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer. The Festac Town native has been crucial for the Amsterdam giants, scoring 12 goals and adding 4 assists in 16 games across all competitions before Sunday's Twente game.
Ajax have a €20 million option to buy Tolu from Wolves.
