Fresh on the back of a managerial change that saw Luciano Spalletti replace Igor Tudor, Vlahovic’s career in Turin has been given new life.
We revealed on Friday how the situation could spark a change of heart in Vlahovic, who decided in the summer that he would not renew his contract at Juve.
And from a playing perspective, Vlahovic has responded perfectly.
He played very well at the weekend against Cremonese in Spalletti’s first game, and on Tuesday night, he scored their only goal in the 1-1 Champions League draw with Sporting CP.
The new coach is speaking about him very positively, and now sources are indicating there is new hope he could stay at Juventus beyond this season.
It would be a major U-turn from the Serbian forward as it would also require a significant pay cut.
He currently has a salary of €12 million, and ideally, Juve would bring him down by almost half that amount, given the new financial parameters they are working under since he last signed a contract.
That is a tough decision to take and one that will prove decisive in this situation. But there is a possibility he even agrees to just a one-year extension, as at this stage, there is no clear pathway away from Juve.
Intermediaries have tried to work on a move to England, with Premier League clubs being kept updated on his position in case they can sign him in January.
The current understanding is that he has a valuation of €20 million if he was to leave in the transfer window, and Juve are every much against the idea of losing him for free at the end of the season.
After his bright start to life under Spalletti, there is new hope that he stays on.
