Nigeria will take on the Egyptian national team in a highly anticipated international friendly ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

According to the Egyptian Football Association, the match will be played at the Cairo International Stadium on Sunday, December 14, serving as an important test for both teams before the continental tournament begins in Morocco on December 21.

Beyond the quest for bragging rights, the Super Eagles and the Pharaohs will use the encounter to assess their squads, refine tactics, and build momentum ahead of the African showpiece.

Nigeria are expected to open camp on December 10, as head coach Eric Chelle will continue fine-tuning his team and may line up additional warm-up matches as part of their final preparations for AFCON 2025.

Prior to that, the three-time African champions will look to book their spot in the Inter-confederation World Cup play-offs with victories over Gabon and either Cameroon or DR Congo in November.

On the other hand, seven-time African champions Egypt will intensify their preparations next month with a four-nation invitational tournament in Dubai, featuring Uzbekistan, Iran, and Cape Verde.

Nigeria are drawn in Group C with Uganda, Tunisia, and Tanzania at the Africa Cup of Nations, while Egypt will face South Africa, Angola, and Zimbabwe in Group B.

The two teams last met on January 11, 2022, during an Africa Cup of Nations clash. The West Africans secured a 1-0 victory, with Kelechi Iheanacho scoring the decisive goal in the 30th minute at Roumdé Adjia Stadium in Garoua, Cameroon.
