Carlos Queiroz’s side will play three matches between September 24th and October 4th as they begin their bid to return to the Africa Cup of Nations after missing the 2025 tournament in Morocco.
Ghana have been drawn in Group C alongside Ivory Coast, The Gambia and Somalia, with the top two teams qualifying for the finals.
The Black Stars’ opening fixture is a difficult away trip to Ivory Coast, before they return to Accra to host The Gambia. Ghana will then travel to Morocco for a friendly against the 2025 AFCON champions.

September 24th, 2026: Ivory Coast vs Ghana – 19:00 GMT
2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier – Group C
Venue: Stade de la Paix, Bouaké, Côte d’Ivoire
Ghana open their AFCON qualifying campaign away against Ivory Coast on September 24.
The match will also mark the start of Hervé Renard’s second spell in charge of the Elephants. Renard previously guided Côte d’Ivoire to the 2015 AFCON title and has returned to replace Emerse Faé.
Ghana will be looking to make a positive start under Queiroz after reaching the knockout stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
September 29th, 2026: Ghana vs The Gambia – 16:00 GMT
2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier – Group C
Venue: Accra Sports Stadium, Accra, Ghana
The Black Stars return home five days later to face The Gambia in their second Group C fixture.
Ghana will be hoping to take advantage of home support as they continue their qualification campaign. The Gambia are also in Group C alongside Somalia and Côte d’Ivoire.
October 4th, 2026: Morocco vs Ghana – 18:00 GMT
International friendly
Venue: Grand Stade de Tanger, Tangier, Morocco
Ghana will conclude the international window with a friendly against Morocco on October 4.
The Ghana Football Association has confirmed the match will take place at the Grand Stade de Tanger, with kick-off scheduled for 19:00 local time.
The friendly will give Queiroz an opportunity to assess his squad against one of Africa’s leading sides after the Black Stars’ two competitive AFCON qualifiers.
Morocco will also be involved in AFCON qualifying during the window, facing Gabon and Lesotho before the meeting with Ghana.
Ghana’s 2027 AFCON qualifying group
Ghana are in Group C alongside:

The 2027 AFCON finals will be hosted jointly by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
The qualifiers are being played across three international windows. Matchdays 1 and 2 take place between September 21st and October 6th, followed by Matchdays 3 and 4 in November and the final two matchdays in March 2027.
