The inaugural Women's Champions League match on Australian soil was a bit of a non-contest in the end, but it was all to the joy of the nearly 2,000 City fans who attended the historic occasion at AAMI Park.

The three-time A-League Women champions needed just four minutes to assert their dominance when Mariana Speckmaier blasted a bobbling corner kick into the top of the net and the Aussies never looked back from there.

12 minutes after she was unable to finish off a neat one-two with her captain Rebekah Stott, City star forward Holly McNamara got a bit of fortune when her left-footed cross from inside the box got a fortuitous deflection into the net from Taichung Blue Whale defender Pei-Jung Li and the Australians never looked back.

McNamara ensured her name would get on the scoresheet when she both won and converted a penalty after being brought down by a reckless challenge from Taichung goalkeeper Tsai Ming-jung.

Her colleague Leticia McKenna was unable to score from the second spot kick of the half conceded by Taichung, shooting directly at Tsai before scuffing the rebound opportunity into the grass, but by that point of the game it was all academic.

Melbourne City have been booked in for a AFC Women's Champions League semi-finals meeting with South Korean side Incheon Red Angels at the Japan National Stadium in Tokyo on May 21, with the final of the competition to be played out at that same venue just three days later.

The squad are reportedly set to earn individual bonuses in the vicinity of $50,000 each should they be successful in lifting the trophy.
