Auckland FC 1-3 Newcastle Jets
Steve Corica (Auckland FC):
"Very frustrating, obviously, especially when they went down to ten men. We still had plenty of time to score and to even go and win the game. We just didn't have any quality in that final third. We didn't move the ball quick enough or create clearcut chances, so we've got only ourselves to blame. To concede two goals as easy as we did is just not good enough."
Mark Milligan (Newcastle Jets):
"The result is satisfying. We had to show a different type of performance today (because of the red card). When we had a full complement of players I think we played some excellent football. We set our intention very early on and scored two wonderful goals. The boys really dug in and worked hard and that's what we require of them. It was just a different version of us today."
Western Sydney Wanderers 0-1 Macarthur FC
Alen Stajcic (Western Sydney Wanderers):
"It seems that way (that the forwards are lacking confidence). It's possible. I think we've dominated nearly every game we've played. I can't remember one game where we haven't been on top for the majority of the game, but that's not what decides a result. We've created enough good chances but maybe it is a bit of a mental block. As we know in sport, you get into a rhythm and a flow and we don't have that at the moment. The building blocks are there."
Mile Sterjovski (Macarthur FC):
"It feels great to get two on the trot. I feel like the momentum is going our way. Tonight the boys really deserved that. I felt like we controlled most part of the game and dealt with the difficult performances really well. Pleasing to see a lot of goalscorers, especially considering we were struggling to score early on. I think we've settled well lately and having Mitch (Duke) is going to lift the team. He brings a lot of good energy on and off the pitch."
Melbourne Victory 3-2 Perth Glory
Arthur Diles (Melbourne Victory):
"I'm very pleased. Jason came in and did an excellent job at centre-back and Adama has come in, despite not playing many minutes, and did an excellent job as well. We kept knocking on that door and eventually it opens. I think right on half-time was a perfect time to score because it probably deflated them and gave us a new lease on life. (Mata) is beautiful to watch. It's a delight to watch him daily, because what he does in a game he does every day. I'd like for him to score, but as long as he keeps assisting, the team will be better for it."
Adam Griffiths (Perth Glory):
"(Victory) playing at home makes a big difference and they had momentum to push for an equaliser. We need to be better with the ball. If we're better with the ball then we wouldn't need to have so much pressure on us, especially in that middle period. I felt that we weren't good enough in that moment and then we have to try to claw our way back. We did that but without the last goal. We've had two hard away games against two good teams."
Brisbane Roar 0-3 Wellington Phoenix
Borja Lema (Brisbane Roar):
"We are unhappy with the result because a lot of fans came here and we wanted to make them happy. We were off today and the players weren't themselves. We will make sure we repay them (the supporters). At the end of the day, we remain connected with good staff. We didn't lose today because Michael (Valkanis) wasn't here, but of course he has a big impact on the team because he's a leader."
Giancarlo Italiano (Wellington Phoenix):
"That was probably the best victory I've ever had as a coach. I've been around a long time, heard a lot of crap, especially around my team. I'm just immensely proud of the group. We suffered today. We talked yesterday about the need for teams to learn to suffer and be brave to be successful. It was like the football gods wanted Carlo to get sent off for us to go through this lesson. We're going to take that lesson in order to make the next move. We needed this. It wasn't so much the result but the performance. I couldn't have asked for anything more."
Melbourne City 0-0 Sydney FC
Aurelio Vidmar (Melbourne City):
"A goal was all that was missing. I think we came out committed, courageous and with a great attitude. We probably had triple the amount of opportunities and entries into the box. We've got to be positive and we'll continue in this manner. On another day we could have got one or two and won the game but unfortunately we didn't, so we've got to keep pushing on. I'm pleased with our reaction after a tough week in Perth and I know we have it in us."
Ufuk Talay (Sydney FC):
"I thought in the first half we were okay. In transition we had some good moments. Once we got to their half I thought we were a little impatient with the ball. I thought Harrison (Devenish-Meares) had a very good game. We didn't want to defend for as long as we did in the second half, but we'll take one point away from home against City."
Adelaide United 0-4 Central Coast Mariners
Airton Andrioli (Adelaide United):
"We're extremely disappointed. We had close to a full house tonight and desperately wanted to give our supporters something to cheer about. We spoke about how important it was to come into this game with the right mentality. Sometimes football doesn't give you clear answers. All the goals (we conceded) are goals I expected us to be able to avoid. Once it was 3-0 they had the game in their hands and could sit back and play the game that they wanted."
Warren Moon (Central Coast Mariners):
"I think the first half was the story. Our first half and the first ten minutes of the second half were where we were more clinical. I think on the whole we managed them pretty well as an attacking threat. We needed that. In the last few games we've always been competitive but found a way to lose. That was a good sign of the togetherness and the work ethic of the ball, because those are the one-percenters we need to climb up the table."
