The Super Eagles, who finished third at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, will compete alongside Iran, Jordan, and Costa Rica in what promises to be a competitive mini-tournament.
According to Nigeria Football Federation Director of Communications Ademola Olajire, the tournament forms part of the federation’s broader technical development plans aimed at strengthening the national team.
The competition kicks off on Friday, 27 March 2026, with the three-time African champions facing Iran, coached by Amir Ghalenoei, at the 17,000-capacity Amman International Stadium.
On the same day, hosts Jordan will take on Costa Rica at the 62,000-capacity King Abdullah Sports City Stadium.
The tournament concludes on Tuesday, 31 March, when Eric Chelle’s men meet Jordan, while Iran face Costa Rica. Kick-off times are expected to be announced soon.
Interestingly, the event coincides with the Inter-Continental World Cup play-offs. Nigeria have petitioned FIFA over DR Congo’s alleged use of ineligible players during the African play-offs. Should FIFA rule in the West Africans’ favour, the Super Eagles could withdraw from the Amman tournament.
For Iran and Jordan, the competition will serve as preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Iran are drawn in Group G alongside Belgium, Egypt, and New Zealand, while Jordan will compete in Group J against Algeria, Argentina, and Austria.
