Colorado Avalanche forward Brock Nelson scored his fifth career hat trick in the team's win over the Toronto Maple Leafs during the NHL's six-game slate on Sunday.

Avalanche 4-1 Maple Leafs

Brock Nelson is now 10 goals away from tying his single-season high of 37.

He scored his first two goals in the first period within 1:12 of each other to put the Avs up 2-0. After teammate Jack Drury (8) put them up 3-0 in the second, Nelson would score his third and final one with an empty-netter.

Max Domi (7) scored on the power play for Toronto with almost a minute left in the game, but it wasn't enough as the Leafs fell to 24-19-9.

The Avs continue to sit atop the NHL as they improved to 35-6-9. They are the only team in the NHL with fewer than 13 losses in regulation.

Kraken 4-2 Devils

Seattle's Jordan Eberle (18) and New Jersey's Jack Hughes (12) both had a goal and an assist as the Kraken ended the Devils' three-game win streak.

The Kraken improved to 23-19-9, sitting alongside the Los Angeles Kings and San Jose Sharks for the second Wild Card spot as all three have 55 points on the year.

New Jersey fell to 27-23-2 and sit at seventh in the Eastern Conference.

Senators 7-1 Golden Knights

Five players on the Senators finished the game with at least two points. Brady Tkachuk (three assists) and Stephen Halliday (two goals, one assist) led the way with three points each.

Dylan Cozens (17) also scored a pair of goals for his second multi-goal game of the season, helping the Senators improve to 24-21-7.

Rasmus Andersson (11) scored the lone goal for a Knights team that fell to 25-14-12.
