Chicago received infielder Luisangel Acuna and right-handed pitcher Truman Pauley.
Robert Jr. had been the center of trade rumours for a while and is now finding a new home in Queens.
The 27-year-old will be entering his seventh season in the MLB. He finished this past season with a .223/.297/.364 slashline along with 14 home runs and 53 RBI with 33 stolen bases, a career high, in 110 games.
Robert was once an All-Star and Silver Slugger Award-winner back in 2023 when he hit 38 home runs with 80 RBI, while batting .264 in his first full season.
The veteran has yet to get back to his All-Star form at the plate. He's now hit 14 homers in back-to-back seasons and failed to hit above .225 in each of them.
Acuna played in 95 games for the Mets last season, slashing .234/.293/.274 with no home runs, eight RBI, and 16 stolen bases.
The 23-year-old infielder will be entering his second full season.
Pauley is still a low-level prospect from the Mets organization. But he tossed a 2.08 earned run average in the three games he pitched in during his brief stint in Single-A ball after being drafted in the 12th round of the MLB Draft.
