Tennis player Barbora Krejcikova (26) dominated the tournament in Tallinn and won her first title of the season. Last year's Roland Garros winner defeated world number four Anett Kontaveit (26) 6-2, 6-3 in the final on the hard surface in the Estonian capital. The seventh seed triumphed in singles for the first time in nearly 15 months and for the first time since her elbow injury in spring.

Krejcikova last celebrated a tournament title on the WTA Tour last year in Prague. Before that, she was also successful at the French Open and Strasbourg. She defeated Kontaveit in 82 minutes and notched her second consecutive win against her. This year she also beat her in the semi-finals in Sydney in January. The Estonian tennis player lost indoors after 24 matches.

Krejcikova, ranked 27th in the world after her triumph in Tallinn, will play in Ostrava from Monday. Her first opponent there will be American Shelby Rogers.

Krejcikova entered the deciding match a day after her more than three-hour semi-final with Olympic champion Belinda Bencic. Against Kontaveit, she was the better player from the start. She won four games in a row from 2:2 and took the first set in half an hour thanks to two break points.

The six days younger Kontaveit continued to struggle on serve. Although she managed to level the second set at 1:3, she didn't win another game and lost the match in front of her home fans.

Like Krejcikova, Kontaveit will also be competing at the Agel Open next week. In Ostrava, she will be the defending champion.
