15:23 CET - The fairytale run of Italian Andrea Pellegrino on home turf continues, with the qualifier defeating Frances Tiafoe 7-6(8), 6-1 to seal his spot in the fourth round.

It is undoubtedly the biggest win of the 29-year-old's career, and he has now won five matches in a row in Rome en route to a maiden last 16 appearance at a Masters event.

He faces a potential match-up with none other than world number one and fellow Italian Jannik Sinner, who takes on Alexei Popyrin soon.

14:22 CET - With the women's draw opening up, Jelena Ostapenko is taking full advantage, seeing off Anna Kalinskaya in straight sets to win 6-1, 6-2.

Meanwhile, in the men's draw, a seed has fallen with Brandon Nakashima being defeated by world number 117 Nikoloz Basilashvili in straight sets, 7-6(5), 6-4.

13:04 CET - Lucky loser Martin Landaluce produced a really great performance to claim a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Mattia Bellucci in Rome.

The 20-year-old Spaniard, who reached the Miami quarter-finals earlier this year, booked a spot in just his second Masters fourth round by losing only seven points on serve against Bellucci.

The 36-year-old has followed up her win over world number one Aryna Sabalenka, comfortably seeing off an out-of-sorts Linda Noskova, 6-2, 6-4.

Cirstea is now into her first-ever Rome quarter-final, and is 13th in the WTA race, illustrating how well she is playing this year. In fact, she is probably playing the best tennis of her career!

12:28 CET - Andrey Rublev is the first winner of the day in the Italian capital, sealing a straightforward 6-4, 6-4 win over Alejandro Davidovich Fokina to book his spot in the fourth round.
