Inter Milan’s opponents for CWC 2025
CA River Plate - Argentina
CA River Plate are one of two Argentine teams at the Club World Cup and qualified via the ranking pathway. The club have 54 domestic titles and 12 international trophies in their collection and are one of the most iconic clubs worldwide. The other Argentine club in the tournament are River Plate’s long-time rivals Boca Juniors.
Urawa Red Diamonds - Japan
Urawa Red Diamonds is one of the most successful clubs in Japan. The team have won three AFC Champions League titles, most recently in 2022, and this is how they qualified for the Club World Cup. The team’s name relates to its founding name, Mitsubishi Urawa Football Club, with the red diamond part alluding to Mitsubishi’s logo.
Monterrey - Mexico
Los Rayados secured one of the four spots allocated to Concacaf for the FIFA Club World Cup by winning the 2021 Concacaf Champions Cup final. The club are one of the most successful clubs in not just Mexico but the whole of South America, winning consecutive Concacaf Champions Cup titles in 2010/11, 2011/12 and 2012/13, three of five they have won overall.

As DAZN holds full broadcasting rights, the London-based entertainment platform can sub-license matches to free-to-air TV channels. Alternatively, fans can watch all of their team's games online or by downloading the DAZN App onto their smart TVs, smartphones, tablets, or game consoles.
Expected lineup: Inter Milan’s squad list for CWC 2025
Teams involved in the Club World Cup will be given special dispensation to conduct transfer activity a fortnight in advance of the tournament. This means that European teams like Inter Milan will have their transfer window open at the start of June rather than June 12th like it is for all other UEFA-affiliated clubs. The controversial move means Inter could include field new players for the tournament, adding potential excitement for the new players involved.
Also, players who have their contact ending during the Club World Cup will be allowed to stay and play for their teams until the tournament's culmination. Inter have Nicola Zalewski on loan from Roma, and his inclusion will have to be worked out with Roma if he is to play. Players who are out on loan, like Tajon Buchanan, can be included in the squad as players can be added to teams during a restricted in-competition period from June 27th to July 3rd.
After competing through a hard season, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi may take the chance to rest players rather than fielding his full team. This could mean some younger and fringe players would get more game time. However, Inter Milan vice-president Javier Zanetti told Inter’s official website that “all the players will be well trained and ready” for the tournament, hinting that as strong a side as they have at their disposal will play.

Players to watch
Captain of the Nerazzurri and last season's Serie A Footballer of the Year, Lautaro Martinez is one to watch. The striker is one of the most important players for Inter and can find the net from almost anywhere. He has scored 196 goals and assists for Inter in 321 games meaning he is involved in a goal over one in every other game.
The other half of Inter Milan’s front two, Marcus Thruam has taken a lot of the burden off Martinez in his two seasons at Inter. The striker is ranked as the second-best player in Serie A this season according to WhoScored and is attracting attention from many clubs despite being happy at Inter. The French forward will delight fans in the Club World Cup if he is still with Inter come the summer.
The Italian defender has been regarded as one of the best defenders in Italy because of his physicality, technique, and ability to play the ball from the back. Former Inter player Andrea Ranocchia called Bastoni “the best defender in Italy and among the best in Europe for his age,” in FCInterNews in November 2024 and the defender will be a key component of Inter’s charge for the Club World Cup.
