Now with the regular season under wraps, Ovechkin posted 44 goals for the Washington Capitals in 65 games - which tied with Tage Thompson as third in the league despite missing a month with a broken leg.
Ovechkin broke Gretzky's all-time goal record with No. 895 on April 6th, 2025.
He now has 897 goals all-time after scoring on Thursday during the Caps' 5-2 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Ovechkin now has his 14th 40+ goal season - no other player in history has more than 12.
And for those who think he won't hit No. 900, don't worry. Ovi recently came out and stated that he's not retiring.
