Our resident hockey experts gave their final predictions of the season for the deciding series, and here's how they broke down their picks:
Mato Kubove
Stanley Cup Finals winner: Edmonton Oilers
How many games: Six
Why: Motivated more than ever. After last year's disappointment, the Oilers are a stronger and better team this time around.
Losing Hyman is definitely a big loss they'll have to make up for, but with great talent and stars who play as a team in perfect sync, Edmonton has every piece of the puzzle needed to succeed.
The Canadian curse will be broken this year. Nobody wants it more than Connor McDavid.
Conn Smythe Winner: Connor McDavid
Henri Briese
Stanley Cup Finals winner: Florida Panthers
How many games: Five
Why: The Panthers are the team of the moment. Even though the Oilers showed in the series against the Dallas Stars that they can handle big setbacks, the residual doubt has not disappeared from the minds of McDavid and company.
The boys from Florida do it through defence and will get the Stanley Cup in back-to-back years.
Conn Smythe Winner: Sergei Bobrovsky
Eric Himmelheber
Stanley Cup Finals winner: Edmonton Oilers
How many games: Seven
Why: Edmonton are firing on all cylinders right now and have the best playmakers in the playoffs (peep the assist boards).
Their 19 goals in the past four games give them incredible momentum, and McDavid seems to be out for blood this time around.
Counting out the best duo in hockey in Leon Draisaitl and McDavid is a bold move, but the Panthers have the means to take the Oilers the distance, just as we saw last year.
Conn Smythe Winner: Connor McDavid
