Pachel will now earn an average of $1.1875 million per season until he's a free agent in 2028. The Flames defenseman was originally set to become a restricted free agent at the end of the season after being claimed off waivers earlier this year on February 4th, but he's excited to remain in Calgary.
Pachal has one goal and one assist on the season with 72 hits and 27 penalty minutes. The former Stanley Cup champion under the Vegas Golden Knights already has 11 takeaways on the year, crushing his previous career-high of five during the 2023-2024 season.
Pachal scored his first goal in 2023 despite being in the league for three years at that point, proving each goal of his is something special when it happens. But the defenseman is proving to be a vital piece in Calgary's future success.
The Flames are 15-11-5 on the season and currently sit in fifth place in the Pacific Division behind the Golden Knights, Los Angeles Kings, Edmonton Oilers, and Vancouver Canucks.
