Norwegian handball star Veronica Kristiansen is sidelined for six months following knee surgery and will consequently miss the upcoming European Championship.
The 36-year-old backcourt player from Hungarian powerhouse Győri Audi ETO KC thus leaves a major void in the Norwegian national team, where head coach Ole Gjekstad had envisioned her playing a key role in both defense and attack at the tournament.
Since making her senior international debut in 2013, she has been a foundational pillar of Norway's golden generation with 204 caps and 635 goals for Norway.
