Despite Germany's impressive win against Norway on Saturday, German national team goalkeeper Andreas Wolff says that Alfred Gislasson's outfit needs to step up a gear if they are to compete with Denmark on Monday night.

Wolff was rightly voted Player of the Match against Norway, thanks to his outstanding 22 saves, and was also praised by Gislason after the match against the Scandinavians.

Only Wolff himself didn't really want to join in the praise. Speaking to German TV ZDF, the 34-year-old instead warned that his teammates' weak performance in the first half must not be repeated.

"You could see that I wasn't thrilled with one or two actions," said the THW Kiel goalkeeper, referring to several errors, especially before halftime. Wolff particularly criticized the "lack of cleverness" in the German national team's attack, which squandered numerous scoring opportunities.

Now they face the world and Olympic champions Denmark on Monday night. "We need to step up our attack overall because the Danes won't let mistakes like that go unpunished," said Wolff.

Germany reached the final of the Paris Olympics but were thrashed in the final by 13 goals (39-26) by a rampant Danish side.
