Feyenoord manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst kept the same starting XI from last week's 2-2 home draw against Go Ahead Eagles, while Real Sociedad loanee Javi Lopez debuted on the bench.
The match got off to a false start after Feyenoord fans set the away end alight with fireworks and threw flares around, injuring five Cambuur fans sitting in the family stand and firing flares at Feyenoord goalkeeper Tjark Ernst as referee Danny Makkelie suspended the game. After it was confirmed that no players, staff members, or officials were hit, Makkelie resumed the game "with a heavy heart," explaining that the match is not automatically suspended permanently when fans are injured in firework incidents.
Feyenoord started well after the stoppage, with Gjivai Zechiel prodding home his second goal of the season, converting from a failed clearance from goalkeeper Thijs Jansen.
Captain Luciano Valente doubled Feyenoord's lead ten minutes later after great preparatory work from Gaoussou Diarra, dashing down the left-hand side and setting up Valente, who turned away from his opponent and buried the ball into Jansen's low corner.
Spanish full-back Mika Marmol was at the base of Feyenoord's 3-0 as well, sending a cross into the box that was dealt with badly by Thijs Jansen, who palmed the ball into his own goal.
Ayase Ueda made it 4-0 before half-time for Feyenoord - Givairo Read was brought down in the Cambuur box, and Ueda stepped up for the following penalty to put it past Jansen.
Slower second half
The tables turned in the second half, with Cambuur creating the bulk of the chances and scoring their first Eredivisie goal at their new stadium via Rafik El Arguioui, who stumbled the ball past Ernst after Jeremiah St. Juste misjudged a pass and left Nicolas Binder free to attack Feyenoord's box.

El Arguioui added a brilliant second goal to his afternoon, Cruyff turning away from two defenders and curling the ball into Ernst's goal in the 80th minute.
Any hopes of a comeback were put to rest by Zechiel, who clinically finished a chance created by Anis Hadj Moussa and Jordan Lotomba.
On a day overshadowed by a fireworks incident, Feyenoord beat Cambuur 5-2 to return to winning ways. Their next test will be at home against ADO Den Haag, who are pointless after three rounds.
