Ndayiragije left the law enforcers on mutual agreement after failing to qualify the team to the group stages of the CAF Champions League.
Police, who were taking part in the lucrative CAF competition, saw their journey come to an end in the second preliminary round after losing to Sudanese champions Al-Hilal Omdurman over two legs.
The first leg in Nairobi ended in a 1-0 defeat before losing the return leg 3-1 in Sudan. Police left the stage on a 4-1 aggregate defeat.
Police have confirmed the arrival of Stojanovic, who boasts relative coaching experience in Africa, having tutored in Uganda where he steered SC Villa to their 17th league title in 2023-24.
Stojanovic has a wealth of experience
Confirming the arrival of Stojanovic, Police FC chairman Nyale Munga said the Kenyan club had engaged his services because of his good exposure, and experience with African football.
“Following the departure of coach Ndayiragije, who was our coach in Police FC, the executive and board of trustees have acquired the services of coach Dusan (Stojanovic), who has landed in Nairobi, and is ready to take charge of Police FC,” said Munga.
“Dusan has a wealth of experience, he has been working in South Africa, North Africa, East Africa, and we have engaged him because we believe with his good exposure, and experience, Police FC will go to great heights.

“We hope by giving him the job, Police FC will remain the champions of Kenya even next season.”
‘I can promise hard work’
Speaking after being unveiled, Stojanovic revealed why he took up the job, and promised to turn around the club’s poor start to the season.
“I know where Police want to be, I know what they want to achieve, and that is the reason I want to jump into the train, so that we can be on the same line. We know what Police have achieved, and what they are targeting for the future, so I can promise a good start under my reign,” said Stojanovic.
“I hope everything will be how we want it to be, and I can promise hard work, and I can promise we will never give up, and we will always fight for what is our goal. For now everything is perfect, apart from the results, we are just lacking goals, and I know with more time, we will change that.
“I don’t know much about Police, I want to be honest, I only watched a few of their matches while in Europe, I watched the two matches against Al Hilal, this is what I used to get information about the players and the team, two seasons ago I was in Uganda, and East Africa as a lot of similarities, so I won’t have problems settling in.”
Stojanovic arrives at a Kenya Police side, who are currently languishing at the relegation zone. Police are placed 17th, one place above the bottom, with five points from three matches. They have managed one win, two draws, and are yet to suffer defeat.
Their opening fixture ended in a 0-0 draw against Ulinzi Stars before they recovered to beat promoted side APS Bomet 1-0. Police’s third fixture ended in a 0-0 draw against Posta Rangers. Stojanovic’s first assignment will be a league fixture against Sofapaka on Wednesday, before they face Tusker FC on Sunday.
