The Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Ottawa Senators 2-1 in Game 3 on Thursday night as they're now one more win away from sweeping the series.

Despite the Senators outhitting the Canes 46-30, all that mattered in the end was the scoreboard.

Carolina goaltender Frederik Andersen was a brick wall in net for Game 3 as he put up 21 saves. He has yet to allow more than two goals through each of the team's first three games these playoffs, making him the only goalie to do so.

Colorado Avalanche goalie Scott Wedgewood could become the second, depending on how Game 3 against the Los Angeles Kings goes.

Game 4 between the Canes and Senators is scheduled for April 25th.

Recap & Highlights

It would take just five minutes for the first goal of the game to be scored.

Carolina's Logan Stankoven scored his third of the playoffs to make it 1-0.

He became just the second player in NHL history to score the opening goal in each of the team's first three games of the playoffs, joining George Armstrong (Toronto Maple Leafs - 1956).

After not much doing from the Senators in the first, Carolina also had three power play opportunities following Stankoven's goal, but couldn't capitalize on any of them.

During the second period, Ottawa would have a golden opportunity with a 5-on-3 for 1:28 after the Canes were called for too many men on the ice and a Jalen Chatfield hooking.

But the Sens couldn't get anything done at all, leading to a round of boos from the home crowd.

The Sens heard their fans loud and clear and finally got on the board to tie things up.

Drake Batherson would score his second of the playoffs after finally getting by Carolina goalie Frederick Andersen to make it 1-1 with just under four minutes left in the second.

But just as the Senators brought their fans to life, the Canes would turn them into crickets just a minute later.

Jackson Blake scored his first goal of the playoffs after a pair of nice feeds from K'Andre Miller and Taylor Hall to take a 2-1 lead en route to a Game 3 win.

Both teams would combine for a brutal 0-for-9 on the power plays (CAR - 0/4, OTT - 0/5).
