The ninth week (May 26th to June 1st) is over with and it was headlined by a race for the home run crown as both Shohei Ohtani and Cal Raleigh stayed red hot at the plate!

As always, the highlights this week will be divided into the following categories: history, walk-offs, home runs, fielding, and pitching (where you'll see Houser's story)!

History

Miami Marlins rookie Victor Mesa Jr. is going to remember his first major league hit for the rest of his life!

Kansas City Royals rookie starting pitcher is already writing his name into the history books after he debuted with six no-hit innings in his first start on May 17th!

Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Chris Sale hit the 2,500 strikeouts mark - becoming the fastest to do so in MLB history, accomplishing the feat in 2,026 innings!

Much like Alex Bregman earlier this year, Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy also knocked his 200th career home run, the same game in which he later hit another homer!

What's the best way to make an impact the second a player comes of the injured list? Hit a home run! But what's even better? Making it your first career home run! And that's exactly what Tampa Bay Rays rookie stud Jake Mangum did.

Walk Offs

It wasn't conventional, but a walk-off is a walk-off for the San Diego Padres last week!

A walk-off happens here and there for teams throughout the season, but doing it in back-to-back games like the Milwaukee Brewers? Now that's a rarity.

And the first one came from Brewers veteran Christian Yelich - his first of his career!

The hit may not have been pretty, but Seattle Mariners Cole Young got just enough of it to walk it off in his big league debut!

Home Runs

Washington Nationals rookie blasted this one for his first ever major league home run!

Is New York seeing a Linsanity 2.0? Mets star Francisco Lindor went yard twice against the Dodgers last week and is now tied for the league lead in lead-off home runs with...Ohtani!

Ohtani stayed red hot as he blasted two home runs against the Evil Empire last week and tied Cal Raleigh for the league lead in home runs with 23 during the series!

Raleigh has been one of the best stories in all of baseball this year and he's gunning for the home run crown - not giving Ohtani a single inch of breathing room as he keeps powering the Mariners to wins!

Houston Astros' Jeremy Pena joined in on the dual-home runs last week after sending bombs in both of his first two at-bats!

Junior Caminero not only finished this game against the Astros with two home runs, but he went 4-5 at the plate!

One of the greatest managers in baseball history, Earl Weaver, once said the key to winning in baseball is "pitching, defense, and the three-run homer."

Well, Brewers' Rhys Hoskins took that to heart as he smashed not one, but two three-run homers last week!

Pitching

Despite ending in a loss, Pittsburgh Pirates rookie pitcher Braxton Ashcraft recorded his first-ever big-league strikeout and has now thrown a shutout in back-to-back appearances!

Nothing like getting your first major league save in front of your biggest supporter! A special moment for San Francisco Giants rookie Camilo Doval last week.

While it may not have been a complete game shutout, Zack Litell still became the first pitcher for the Tampa Bay Rays since 2021 to record a complete game - and he did it with a nasty strikeout!

Fielding

Atlanta Braves third baseman Austin Riley made one of the best plays of the season!

Athletics centerfielder Denzel Clarke went full Spider-Man for one of the craziest catches of the season!

Not only was Hyeseong Kim a monster at the plate during this game, but he also gunned down the best hitter in the game trying to leg out a double!

Seattle Mariners left fielder Randy Arozarena caught the runner lacking and gunned him down at second for a clutch double play!

Willing to sacrifice his body for this insane catch as soon as he came off the injured list? Let us all tip our caps to Miami Marlins centerfielder Dane Myers!

Minnesota Twins centerfielder Harrison Bader made sure to pull his best Stretch Armstrong with this incredible catch!
