Pitre had 65 tackles (six for loss), eight pass deflections, one forced fumble, and one interception this year for the Texans. The three-year safety will now go two straight years without playing a full season. Pitre was out for last week's matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars due to complications with the injury.
“We’re going to miss his instincts, miss his play-making ability," said head coach DeMeco Ryans. "We’ve got to pick it up and we’ve got to go. Whoever steps in, has to hit the ground running.”
The Houston Texans take another big blow to their defense ahead of their Christmas matchup against the Ravens. Defensive captain Azeez Al-Shaair is currently serving a three-game suspension for his hit on Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
Pitre started to shine in the nickel spot for the Texans this year and now Jimmie Ward will have to take up the mantle while Eric Murray and Calen Bullock handle safety duties.
Last year, the Texas native missed a couple of games at the start of the season after suffering bruised lungs in Week 1 against the Baltimore Ravens.
