Outstanding displays from some of the continent’s finest talents proved decisive as they inspired their respective clubs to crucial results.

ENGLAND

Dango Ouattara opened his goalscoring account for the season as Brentford battled back to secure a 1-1 Premier League draw against Hull City at the MKM Stadium.

The Burkina Faso international struck shortly after the hour mark, capitalising on Igor Thiago's miskick to finish from close range after Ryan Giles failed to clear a cross.

Hull had taken a first-half lead through Oli McBurnie's penalty following Aaron Hickey's foul on Tim Iroegbunam.

Algerian star Mohamed Belloumi nearly restored the hosts' advantage, but his effort struck the side netting, while the Bees squandered late opportunities to snatch victory.

The result extended the Tigers’ winless run to seven matches across all competitions, while Brentford have managed just one victory in their last seven league outings.

Elsewhere, Nicolas Jackson struck twice as Aston Villa extended their unbeaten run to seven matches across all competitions with a 2-1 Premier League victory over Manchester City.

The Senegal international opened the scoring in the sixth minute after capitalising on Marc Guehi's mistake, brilliantly evading Elliot Anderson before firing into the roof of the net.

Enzo Maresca’s men responded strongly, with Iliman Ndiaye hitting the woodwork before setting up Erling Haaland's equaliser shortly after the restart.

However, Jackson restored Villa's advantage on the hour mark when his low effort slipped beneath goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, completing his brace.

Goalkeeper Zion Suzuki proved instrumental, producing several crucial saves, including a stunning intervention to deny Josko Gvardiol.

Ian Maatsen also cleared Haaland's late header off the line as Unai Emery's side held firm.

The victory secured Villa's first home league win of the campaign while denying the Citizens an eighth consecutive Premier League triumph.

SPAIN

Inaki Williams scored as Athletic Club cruised to a commanding 4-0 victory over Getafe at San Mames.

The former Ghana international doubled Athletic's advantage in the 35th minute with a composed finish past David Soria after Alex Berenguer's defence-splitting pass.

Berenguer had earlier opened the scoring with a cleverly executed free kick that evaded everyone before finding the net.

Athletic maintained their dominance after the break, with Aitor Paredes' header deflecting off Jean Ives Valou for the third goal.

Following Mario Martin's late dismissal, Yuri Berchiche completed the rout with another free-kick. The result condemned Getafe to their sixth consecutive league away defeats, while the hosts extended their unbeaten home record in LaLiga.

ITALY

Algerian defender Rafik Belghali scored a spectacular long-range goal as Torino defeated Monza 3-2 to register three consecutive Serie A victories for the first time since March 2019.

The wing-back restored his team's lead in the 61st minute, creating space outside the penalty area before curling a brilliant right-footed strike into the corner from 25 yards.

Kian Fitz-Jim had opened the scoring before Gustavo Varela capitalised on a defensive error to equalise shortly after half-time.

Nikola Vlasic extended Torino's advantage with a powerful finish, although Nathan Patterson's stoppage-time own goal ensured a nervy conclusion.

The victory moved Torino level on points with the European qualification places, while Monza remained winless away from home in Serie A this season.

In another Italian topflight encounter, Frank Anguissa scored a spectacular overhead kick as Napoli surrendered their lead to draw 3-3 with AS Roma in a thrilling Serie A encounter.

The Cameroonian midfielder broke the deadlock with an acrobatic finish following Matteo Politano's free-kick, becoming the first player to score a first-half league goal against Roma this season.

Scott McTominay doubled Napoli's advantage shortly after the restart before Matias Soule and Leonardo Balerdi struck to restore parity. McTominay then completed his brace with a powerful long-range effort, seemingly securing victory for the hosts.

However, Balerdi headed home a late equaliser to preserve Roma's unbeaten league record.

FRANCE

Nigerian international Josh Maja came off the bench to score twice as Le Havre staged a spirited comeback before suffering a dramatic 4-3 defeat to Olympique Marseille in Ligue 1.

The Super Eagles forward inspired a remarkable late fightback after the hosts raced into a commanding four-goal lead at the Stade Velodrome.

CJ Egan-Riley opened the scoring before Timothy Weah doubled the hosts' advantage with a brilliant solo effort.

Igor Paixao and Himad Abdelli struck shortly after half-time to seemingly put the contest beyond Le Havre.

However, Maja sparked hopes of an unlikely comeback, converting a penalty before Mouhamed N'Diaye reduced the deficit further.

The Nigerian then completed his brace late on, setting up a nervy finish, but Marseille held firm despite a lengthy VAR review.

The victory extended Marseille's winning streak to three matches, while Le Havre remain winless this season.

In another French topflight encounter, Senegal’s Boulaye Dia scored as Stade Rennais climbed to the second position in Ligue 1 following a commanding 3-0 victory over struggling Strasbourg at Roazhon Park.

The African broke the deadlock shortly after the half-hour mark, converting Przemyslaw Frankowski's pass with a clinical first-time finish.

Dia's strike extended his remarkable personal record, having avoided defeat in his previous 29 goalscoring appearances for club and country.

Sebastian Szymanski doubled Rennes' advantage four minutes before half-time, finishing Mahamadou Nagida's delivery with precision.

The midfielder completed his brace after the interval by unleashing a spectacular curling effort from 25 yards that crashed in off the underside of the crossbar.

The victory lifted ensured Rennes extended their unbeaten home run to nine matches, while Strasbourg suffered their fourth consecutive league defeat.
